Jeremiah 31:3
I have loved you with an everlasting love;
therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.

Ephesians 1:4-6
even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,

to the praise of his glorious grace,

with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.

“Since it is true that ‘from everlasting to everlasting’ He is God, and since God is love, then it is equally true that ‘from everlasting to everlasting’ He loves his people.” (Arthur W. Pink)

“It is a special consideration to enhance the love of God in giving Christ, but in giving him, he gave the richest jewel in his cabinet, the mercy of the greatest worth and most inestimable value. Heaven itself is not so valuable and precious as Christ is: he is the better half of heaven, and so the saints account him: ‘whom have I in heaven but thee?’ (Psa 73:25)…O what a fair One! What an only One!  What an excellent, lovely, ravishing One is Christ! Put the beauty of 10,000 paradises, like the garden of Eden, into one. Put all trees, all flowers, all smells, all colors, all tastes, all joys, all sweetness, all loveliness in one. O what a fair and excellent thing would that be? And yet it should be less  to that fair and dearest well-beloved Christ than one drop of rain to the whole seas, rivers, lakes, and fountains of 10,000 earths.

Christ is heaven’s wonder, and earth’s wonder.”

(John Flavel)

A Prayer in response:

I declare today that the Son of God loved me and gave himself for me (Gal 2:20). This isn’t narcissism; it’s necessity. It’s not selfish, it’s sacred. It’s not western individualism; it’s deeply personal. I’m once again in awe, Jesus. Intensify my heart even more… I pray in Your truly astonishing name. Amen.1

  1. I’m just finishing up a book about how intentionally and deeply intimate God loves us. I seem to never get enough of that thought and I seem to need reminding of it often. Thank you, Scott! Also, I love seeing your photography and encouraging words all together on this space for us. It’s a beautiful combination of your gifts. Love and blessings!! and may the powerful name and love of Jesus be spread far and wide for many to know Him in that personal way.

    1. Ah my dear friend, our gracious Lord knew I needed to hear from you today. Your spoken blessing is received warmly in my heart; I know He is working deeply there, but I find myself in a season with little inspiration to write. That said, I am gorging on the old writers of our faith like never before. They are feeding me and I find myself having to chronicle their words on this platform. Your encouragement means so much, Joyfull!

  2. Hi Scott
    After many years of feeling Gods finger was always pointing at me …….through blogs like yours Scott and Gods word I’m resting in the absolute fact that Jesus loves me no matter what. Love that would cause Jesus to die on Roman timber for me I don’t understand but so thankful for. Blessings to you and Sandy

    1. I still recall, along with Sandy, our beautiful visit with you both and to hear of the amazing journey the Lord is taking you on. I can’t tell you how deeply humbled and grateful I am that you take the time to read what I post. These days I’m not doing much writing, but I sure am being fed by the old words of faithful men who knew the gospel of utter grace intimately. Peace be with you both!

  3. “…to the praise of His glorious grace” This grace—this empowerment—which is to be praised, is His love.
