Coming up on the one-year anniversary of our son’s unmooring from this side of the expansive ocean.

I suppose God was preparing me for the painful hour last Advent because I downloaded SCC’s entire album from iTunes just days before that hallowed morning of the sixteenth.

It’d been years since I heard any of his albums, so I took a shot. Had an extra ten bucks at the time, and I thought why not? After giving it a listen, I thought many of the tunes were catchy and their lyrics meaningful – to Steven, that is, since the tragedy of losing a child was theirs alone. I felt I was only vicariously touching on his sacred sorrow.

Little did I know…

Following the news that dolefully imposed on our lives, God had already put in place this ready-made resource at my disposal: words of comfort, glazed with grace and gilded with hope. Honestly, this album was the only music I listened to for weeks.

I invite you push the arrow on the video below, grab some tissues, sit back and listen for the glorious promise offered in Steven Curtis Chapman’s title track, Glorious Unfolding.

Then do yourself a solid and go download the entire album for yourself.

Cause you never know…
