Walter, I had a reply to your generous posting here and sent it thinking it was displayed. Alas, and to my utter surprise, I double-checked today and saw it was not there.

Anyway, I thank you for sharing From Courage To Glory with us all. We feel privileged to have been among your first readers. I love you, my brother. It is "wicked good" (as they say in Boston). Truly. Very inspirational.

Until our Faith Is Seen As Sight!!!

(now I hope it got posted this time)

Bless you, Rick, for contributing here; As I told you over on that "other" social medium, I was wowed by the Spirit as I read your account, and spent some time "yay-ing" our God for His great grace in your and your fellowship's lives.

No doubt, that fellowship hall is going to house some pretty incredible gatherings over the years!

Nice one brother. One of my "waiting stories" is from a few years back. Our church was wanting to acquire a building and property that was in foreclosure and was adjacent to our property. The bank wanted $70,000 and one of our members offered them $50,000. They basically laughed at the offer. So we said, "Fine. We will do without" and waited for God to lead. 2 years later the bank approached us about buying it and sold it to us for $30,000." It is now our Fellowship Hall, remodeled and completely paid for. Praise God for His waiting periods.

It has amazed me, as I go through the minor prophets, JT, that each one almost to a man addresses this very issue as being at the heart of God's displeasure with the church of their day. Little has changed, except for pockets of 'moves' among those who are throwing off the restraints of man-religion (as opposed to pure religion and undefiled a-la James) and throwing their hat in the ring with Jesus.

Of course, as you observed, we gotta make sure it's not a Texas-sized ten-gallon hat!

Good article. The comments section over at the source site is pretty interesting, too.
There are many references in scripture which point out the folly of trusting in empty religious "works"... especially where unjust living is preferred over love.

Of course, trying really hard to love others the way that we would want to be loved can *also* become an exercise in vanity as well...

Grace and peace to you!!

I don't believe that enough of us heed the Apostle John's ending to his writing while on Patmos: "...if anyone adds to them (the words of this prophecy) God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away form the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life..."
You don't He really means that, do you???
Good post Scott. See if you can get this post entered into the "Preacher's Handbook."

Heather (to the rest) is fast becoming one of my favorite bloggers. So much variety and spontaneity in her posts, but always, always deeply spiritual. Just click on her name above and it will link you to her site. You're welcome.

Now Heather, I look forward to yours and your Papaw's next visit...
